Given that most work environments favor extroverted personalities in their office design, pace and practices it is fairly common for introverts to be self-employed or work alone. This is certainly true for me. I appreciate the flexibility to work in my home office looking out the window as the autumn leaves dazzle. Or like today, I pack up and find a friendly coffee shop when I need more contact with the outside world. The autonomy and choice I have being self-employed allows me to thrive. When things get too loud or overstimulating I am able to make a change. Being my own boss allows me take time to quietly reflect and process new information with ease. I am also able to manage my energy as I schedule down time between meetings and clients. Whether you are self-employed, work alone, or find yourself smack dab in the middle of an extroverted oriented workplace – how do you honor your introverted style? Celebrate the ways you do!

WEBSITE CHANGE? I would respectfully ask that the website be changed from using a black background and red lettering. Grey type on black is hard to read, plus it uses a ton of ink if we want to print out something. Also, many educators know never to use red because it is more difficult for color-blind people to read.

Great blog today. When I worked in an office I truly appreciated my arriving early before anyone and enjoying that quiet hour. I would make a pot of tea, turn on the computer, and get stared at my own pace. Now that I am focusing more on my own business, I spend quite a lot of time in my home office as you indicated when need people, I head out to the local coffee shop or restaurant.
