I love Thanksgiving! It is my favorite holiday. As an Army family we either went to the “mess hall” – which was the place where soldiers ate everyday and it would be fancied up for the holiday – or my mom cooked things like chicken fricassee and goulash, both of which we loved. My mom is German and never cooked a Turkey. We invited the soldiers over who had no place to go. That captures the true spirit of Thanksgiving where people are invited into the circle. It is about inclusion and sharing.
As an adult I loved hosting Thanksgiving at my house and carried on the tradition of inviting those who had no place to go. And the whole point of it all is to give thanks – to be in touch with all that we have and to share the abundance with others. Could there be a better celebration? So in that spirit of giving thanks – I appreciate you! Thank you for reading this blog. Thank you for sharing your ideas and thoughts! Your comments, emails and conversations when we bump into each other in person inspire me to keep writing and sharing! Thank you! Thank you! Introverts rise up!
